The purpose of this illustration is to depict a character that will be the mascot of bnuuy.ca. This character will be prominently featured on the front page.
Display context
The front page of bnuuy.ca will have a small box containing pertinent site information. Behind that box is a large background displaying a picture of the mascot.
Because designing a character in a vacuum is hard, I have some ideas for the mascot but don’t know how well they’ll actually work. It’s going to take a bit of experimentation between us to figure this out.
Dwarf Hotot
Details
Species: rabbit, obviously
Looks like a bnuuy. Cute, blobby, etc.
Fur: mainly white with natural black/grey eyeliner (IMO the hotot fur pattern is less common, so I’m using that)
Gender: ambiguous_gender
Fingers: 4 per paw, including thumb
Ears:
short ears (for a rabbit), like a breed such as Netherland Dwarf or Dwarf Hotot
back of the ears are dark-furred
right ear has a tattoo — dot-matrix pattern
left ear flops down
Body proportions: you know what I like. Big head, short legs, etc.
Footwear: I’m ambivalent about if there should be any
Wearing:
modern streetwear, leaning slightly to practical hiking gear
a slim backpack with various things poking out — pens, radio antenna, camera, etc.
In this drawing
Since this image is going to be the background and partly obscured, the post should be able to show the character’s face even if stuff is in the way, partway down the page.
Pose:
hiking
body posed at a diagonal so the torso faces screen right towards viewer (about 4 o’clock), which gives a view of the backpack
head turned mostly in the direction of the viewer, looks kind of like a lowercase letter B since the right ear is up
no eye contact — they’re looking off-camera
…or any other cool pose you had in mind.
Facial expression — I think one of these will work well:
aloof
curious
wide-eyed blank stare, like a wild rabbit
Right ear tattoo
The tattoo on their right ear is dot-matrix printed. It’s narrow and tall, defined by this pattern of dark dots:
